Analytics Query Tool - Results Panel
The bottom panel contains the query results. These results can be copied to the clipboard in various formats or used to drive an Excel web query or a PowerPoint text, table, or chart slide placeholder. The results can also be interactively sorted.
Data Grid
The data grid displays the query results using column and row headers. Depending on the nature of the query, these may be sortable. The header cells have a grey background and their values are generally the name of a metric or the value of a dimension. When the query only contains a single metric (nothing dragged to rows or columns), the row header will be the profile name and the column header will be the metric name.
The data cells have a white background, and display the aggregated metric values, which are generally counts, averages, or times. For example, a query with the metric Time on Page (ga:timeOnPage) would display the total time of all visits, while Avg Time on Page (ga:avgPageDuration) would show the average instead of the total.
Sorting
If a row or column header cab be sorted, then the sort (
) icon
will be displayed on the right side of the header cell. Click a header to change the current sort or
shift-click a header to add to the current sort. A single click for a metric will sort it descending
(
)
to bring the largest values to the top. A single click for a dimension will sort it ascending
(
) to
display labels such as country or browser alphabetically. A second click will swap the sort order, and a third click will
turn off the sort.
Action Buttons
The buttons that appear on the lower right are based on how the query tool is being run.
Running from “My ShufflePoint”
The “My ShufflePoint” page is where you land when you log into www.shufflepoint.com. Clicking the “Launch Google Analytics data browser” will launch the “Analytics Query Tool” as a stand alone application.
When run this way, the result panel contains a “Data to Clipboard” button. Click this button to place an Excel compatible (TSV) copy of the data into the clipboard. Then click on a cell within Excel to identify the paste location, and click Edit / Paste to place a copy of the data into Excel. Note that this data will not automatically refresh. To link refreshable data to Excel, use the IQY File approach or use the full Excel integration described in the next section.
Running within Excel
When using the ShufflePoint “Google Analytics with Excel” integration, click the “Continue” button to go to the next step of the web query process. See Analytics Query Tool - Excel Web Queries for more information.
Running within ShufflePoint Studio for PowerPoint
When the query tool is being used to associate Google Analytics data with a PowerPoint slide placeholder, click the “Save” button to save the association, or click “Cancel” to return to the previous settings. See ShufflePoint Studio for PowerPoint - Placeholder with Google Analytics for more information.
