Analytics Query Tool - Targets Panel

The panel at the top right contains the drag-and-drop “Targets” as well as options for selecting the query “Timeframe” and result “Rows” limit.

Columns

One or more metrics dropped here will each appear in their own column, titled with the metric name. A dimension dropped here will result in the dimension values being the column titles. In either case the metric or dimension will be followed by ON COLUMNS in the query.

Rows

One or more metrics dropped here will each appear in their own row, titled with the metric name. A dimension dropped here will result in the dimension values being the row titles. In either case the metric or dimension will be followed by ON ROWS in the query.

Cells

A single metric can be dropped here, and will appear in the AQL WHERE clause. This would be used if a single dimension was dropped in both the “Rows” and “Columns” targets.

Profiles

If this target is left empty, then the default profile listed inside the target box will be used. A single profile can be dropped here to specify a profile different than the current default. More than one profile can be dropped here if the “GA Profile” (sp:profile, under Site group) dimension has been dropped in the “Rows” or “Cells” target. Use this feature to easily compare the performance of your profiles.

Settings

The “Settings” button in the footer of the Targets panel posts a dialog where query settings are made. The settings dialog is described in the help page.

Sorting

If a row or column can be sorted, then the sort (No Sort) icon will be displayed on the right side of the list item. Click this icon to change the current sort or shift-click an icon to add to the current sort. A single click for a metric will sort it descending (Sort Descending) to bring the largest values to the top. A single click for a dimension will sort it ascending (Sort Ascending) to display labels such as country or browser alphabetically. A second click will swap the sort order, and a third click will turn off the sort.
